The Human Rights Train is an independent initiative dedicated to advancing human rights through education, storytelling, advocacy, and community connection.
We believe human rights are not abstract ideas. They affect how people live, work, learn, participate, and feel safe in their communities every day. Our goal is to make human rights information more accessible, understandable, and relevant while creating space for people to learn from one another.
The name Human Rights Train represents movement, connection, and shared progress. A train brings people together from different places, carries their stories forward, and continues toward a common destination. In the same way, meaningful human rights progress requires people, communities, and organizations to move forward together.
Human Rights Train will work to:
- Increase awareness and understanding of human rights issues.
- Share educational resources, stories, and practical tools.
- Highlight the experiences of communities affected by discrimination and inequality.
- Encourage respectful dialogue, solidarity, and civic participation.
- Connect people and organizations working toward dignity, equality, justice, and inclusion.
We recognize that human rights work is ongoing. Progress is not always direct, and no single person or organization can create lasting change alone. Human Rights Train exists to help people join the journey, learn from the past, respond to the present, and contribute to a more just and inclusive future.
Everyone has a place on the journey toward human rights.

Land Acknowledgement
The Human Rights Train respectfully acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples across what is now known as Canada.
As a project that will travel from community to community, we recognize that each stop along our journey is located on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of distinct First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We are committed to learning and acknowledging the specific Nations whose lands we are visiting and to ensuring those acknowledgements are meaningful, accurate, and locally informed.
The Human Rights Train is rooted in the belief that human rights are inseparable from truth, justice, equity, and reconciliation. We recognize that the history of this land includes the ongoing impacts of colonization, the legacy of residential schools, and the continued resilience, leadership, and cultures of Indigenous Peoples.
Acknowledgement alone is not enough. We are committed to listening, building respectful relationships, amplifying Indigenous voices, supporting Indigenous-led initiatives, and creating spaces where education, dialogue, and action can contribute to a more just and equitable future for all.
As we travel across the country, we invite everyone who joins us to reflect on the land beneath our feet, the stories it holds, and our shared responsibility to uphold the dignity, rights, and self-determination of Indigenous Peoples.
Together, we move forward with humility, respect, and a commitment to human rights for everyone.
